Edsel Ford art teacher illustrates children’s science book

Liz Donaghue/Craft, an art teacher at Edsel Ford High School, poses with "What Color Will It Be?", the children's book she illustrated.

An Edsel Ford High School art teacher is helping encourage children to explore science.

Second-year teacher Elizabeth Donaghue has illustrated a new children’s book “What Color Will It Be?”  She uses pen name Liz Craft on the book, which will hopefully be only the first in a series called Science with Scarlett.  Author Gary Abud Jr. is a science teacher and 2014 Michigan Teacher of the Year.

Donaghue immediately liked the premise of the book series – getting children to explore everyday science, “especially young women.  There are fewer women going into science and math,” she said.

“What Color Will It Be?” explores mixing different colors of light using flashlights and colored films.
