Applications open for Foundation and Rotary scholarships

High school seniors and their parents should know that winter is when many scholarship applications open, including those available from the Dearborn Education Foundation and the Dearborn Rotary.

The Education Foundation has 16 scholarships. Scholarships are available based on what school a student attends, vocational plans, sports participation and more.  The full list of scholarships can be found on the Foundation’s scholarship page.

Applications for all of the foundation scholarships are due by March 31, 2022.  Winners will be announced at the Foundation’s Green Tie dinner in June.

The Dearborn Rotary is also providing scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $9,500 for outstanding high school students from across Dearborn.

More details can be found on the Rotary’s Scholarship page.  Applications are due by Jan. 31, 2022.  Winners will be recognized at an event on May 10.

Students are encouraged to start their scholarship applications well before the due date.  Many scholarships require letters of recommendation, and students should reach out to those they hope will write letters of recommendation weeks before they need the letter submitted. They also will want time to plan, write and proofread any required essays.
Seniors and their parents are also encouraged to complete the FAFSA if they have not done so already.  The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is used to award federal grants and scholarships.  Most colleges and universities also require students to complete FAFSA before they will consider providing any assistance to students.
