STEM Middle School accepting applications outside the district and in-district for seventh grade

STEM Middle School is now accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year from those few students who need to apply.

Current fifth grade students in Dearborn Public Schools should NOT fill out an application. Fifth grade students already in the district will be invited to join next year if they meet the required test scores.

Those who would need to apply include:

  • Any fifth or sixth grade students not currently enrolled in Dearborn Public Schools who are interested in enrolling in the district next year. Students must live with a parent or legal guardian inside the Dearborn Public School District. Please complete the non-district student application.
  • Any current sixth grade student currently enrolled in the district who would like to transfer to STEM if there is an open seventh grade spot next year. Use the seventh grade in-district application.

All applications are due by Monday, May 1st.

STEM Middle School is a magnet school for students in the sixth to eighth grade. The National Blue Ribbon School provides an accelerated learning pathway for middle school students, while following the same middle school curriculum used across the district.

Current fifth grade students in the district who qualify, as well as those attending a non-district school who apply and meet the admission criteria, will be invited into the program. If more than 60 of those students who are invited want to join STEM, a lottery will be held. Any students not selected in the lottery will remain on a waiting list for next year in case a spot becomes available.
