NOTE – The date of the clinics was changed to Friday, Aug. 25 to coincide with the open houses at the schools.
Parents of children starting kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade in the fall are reminded that those students will need updated school physicals and immunization before the new school year starts on Aug. 28, 2023.
Middle and high school students who plan to participate in athletics will also need a sports physical before practice starts for their sport.
Spring or early summer is a good time to call your child’s doctor to schedule those physicals because exam slots often fill up before school starts. Parents should ask the doctor’s office to complete the school health appraisal form and/or sports physical form.
To help families, C-ASSIST in conjunction with the district, is planning two free Back to School Health Clinics. Both clinics will be held Friday, Aug. 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. One clinic will be at Fordson High, 13800 Ford Road, Dearborn, and the other at Salina Intermediate, 2623 Salina St. Dearborn.
The C-ASSIST events are free to families. Services will include school physicals and child wellness checks, a giveaway of backpacks and school supplies, immunizations for students 18 and younger, and COVID and flu vaccines.
