Special event to highlight efforts to retain, recruit and grow our own staff

Staffing shortages are a national concern, especially for teachers.

Dearborn Public Schools will highlight some of what it has been and will be doing to recruit and retain staff during a special event on Thursday, March 10, that can be viewed live online at 11 a.m. or later on demand.

The district has embraced a new 3 Rs of education – Retaining, Recruiting and Reimagining staffing.

The event will look at techniques such as the improved payscale for teachers and benefits for staff, recruiting efforts for all positions, and several programs to grow and support district staff.  Veteran and new staff members will also share their experiences as members of the district staff.

Speakers will include, among others:

  • Dr. Glenn Maleyko, Superintendent of Dearborn Public Schools
  • Jane Mazza, President of the Dearborn Federation of Teachers
  • Maysam Alie-Bazzi, Executive Director of Staff and Students Services
  • Hilda Irani, consultant for Dearborn Teacher University

With more than 2,500 employees spread over 35 buildings, Dearborn Public Schools is one of the largest employers in Wayne County outside of Detroit.

The March 10 event can be viewed live via the district’s YouTube channel, on our Facebook page and on Comcast channel 19.  It will also be available later on the YouTube channel.Learn more about working for Dearborn Public Schools on our Get Hired page.
