Dearborn High School film students earned 10 nominations for their student productions this year, and the public can see those nominated films during the school’s annual film fest on May 17 and 18, 2024.
Students received 10 nominations from the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in the group’s high school film production competition. Six of the awards include Jacob Head for directing, writing, filming and editing.
The nominees, by category include:
- Fiction – Short Form – Dӧppel – Diamond Fuller as producer/cinematographer and Jesse Good as editor.
- Commercial – Recruitment Video – Rayan Hamid, director; Ryan Furchi, director; Arlo-Sage Molenda, producer; Jacob Head, cinematographer; Azalea Hofmann-Strate, head gaffer; Vic Garrison, best boy; Jesse Good, editor; Cy Hunter, sound; and Ally Laurie, writer.
- Audio/Sound – Lights Out – Ali-Amir Hamid
- Audio/Sound – Dӧppel – Ally Lauri
- Director – Head For the Truth – Jacob Head
- Director – Dӧppel – Maria Makki
- Editor – Head For the Truth – Jacob Head

- Photographer – IDGAF – Jacob Head
- Writing – Head For the Truth – Jacob Head
The film festival will include showings of Head for the Truth, Dӧppel, Lights Out, IDGAF, and WDHS Recruitment Video. Other showings at the event will include Lockdown, Harvey and Digital Confinement.
Doors open for the film festival at 6:30 p.m. both nights. Admission is $10 at the door or $7 in advance.
