STEM ranked top middle school in the state

Graphic congratulating STEM on being top middle school.

STEM Middle School was recently named the top middle school in the state by U.S. News and World Report.

Howard Elementary School in Dearborn placed in the top 5 percent for elementary schools, coming in #72 out of 1,475 public elementary schools included in the report.

STEM was the top school out of 832 middle schools evaluated in Michigan.  The 2026 report was released in October 2025. U.S. News and World Report bases its rankings on state test scores.  Half of the ranking points are based solely on the percentage of students at that school who are proficient on state math and reading tests, and half of the ranking points come from adjusting the number of proficient students based on socioeconomic factors in the school, such as the number of low-income students.
