Dearborn High School film students took home seven awards for the regional 2026 Student Production Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences after earning a record breaking 23 nominations. All of this year’s nominated movies will be shown during the annual WDHS Film Festival scheduled for May 15 and 16, 2026 at Dearborn High. Doors open for the film festival at 6:30 both nights. Tickets are $10 at the door and $7 purchased in advance online.
Dearborn High and its affiliated WDHS have a long tradition of creating successful videos from movies (Long Form Fiction) to advertisements and music videos. This year students Jesse Good earned 10 nominations, and Ameena Toumi earned nine nominations.
Winning productions include:
- America’s Sweetheart – Best Short Form Fiction, Best Photographer, Best Writer, Best Talent; Zeinab Saad as producer, Jesse Good and Amanie Alfatlawy as writers, Jesse Good as photographer, and Asraa Aljehishi as talent.
- Man-Made – Best Long Form Fiction, Evelyn Tavarez and Mohammad Aoun as producers
- Landslide – Best Music Video and Best Editing; Ameena Toumi as producer, Jesse Goode as editor and Zeinab Saad for lighting.
Other nominations include include:
- Fiction – Short Form – The Diner: Jesse Good as producer; Ameena Toumi as writer; and Asraa Aljehishi, Riley Downey and Blake Bielski as talent.
- Public Service Announcement (PSA) – 30 Minutes: Ameena Toumi as producer, Jesse Good as photographer, Ryan Balding on audio, Zeinab Saad on lighting, and Asraa Aljehishi and Natalia Garbie as talent.
- Commercial – Bethany Anne Galdes Foundation Ad: Hassouna Beydoun as producer, Adryannah Arnold as talent, and Brandon Bennett as editor.
- Audio/Sound – America’s Sweetheart: Ameena Toumi and Man-Made: Brandon Bennett for sound and Ameena Toumi for audio.
- Director – America’s Sweetheart: Jesse Good, Landslide: Ameena Toumi, and Man-Made: Ameena Toumi.
