In January 2025, the Board of Education approved two contracts as the district continues to plan to put another infrastructure bond on the ballot in either 2025 or 2026.
Byrum and Fisk was hired to help with community engagement including gathering input from stakeholders and communicating the district’s building and facilities needs.
Quinn Evans was hired to look at all schools but specifically assess the district’s historic buildings and provide updated estimates for what it would cost to continue to use those as schools.
The Board of Education asked administrators to hire companies to provide those services during a special facilities meeting in September 2024. The district is in dire need of building repairs and upgrades including replacing boilers, roofs, air handling equipment and more and addressing security, space and other concerns. Those interested in knowing more about the district’s infrastructure issues are encouraged to visit the district’s Facilities Planning website.
