Middle and high school orientation dates announced

Two middle school students look over one student's schedule on the first day of school in August 2025.

Dearborn Public Schools is already planning orientation events for next fall’s incoming middle and high school students and their families. Parents and students already in the district and those considering joining the district are welcome to attend and learn more about their future schools.

At orientations school staff will discuss details like schedules, scheduling, class expectations and extracurricular activities.

Kindergarten roundups start in late March.  More information about those will be shared closer to time on the district’s First Bell website.

Generally, students need to live within the Dearborn Public School district to attend a district school and will be assigned to a school based on the district’s attendance areas.

The exceptions are Virtual K- 12 and Henry Ford Early College, which both accept students from across Dearborn Public Schools and across Wayne County. Henry Ford Early College applications are due by Feb. 6 for students who hope to start the program as ninth graders in the fall.  Virtual K-12 accepts students from elementary through high school.

The high school orientation for incoming students and parents are set for:

  • Edsel Ford High, 20601 Rotunda, Feb. 11, 2026 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Dearborn High, 19501 Outer Drive, April 28 from 6 to 8 p.m.,
  • Fordson High, 13800 Ford Road, May 5, 2026 from 5:30 to 7 p.m..
  • Henry Ford Early Colleges, for admitted students, 5101 Evergreen Road, May 19.

Orientations at the three traditional high schools will also include the opportunity for students to talk to coaches for fall sports and learn about other clubs and activities available for students.

For the district’s middle school orientations, times and dates are:

  • Bryant, 460 N. Vernon, on April 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

“We realize that changing schools and moving on to the next level can be a big transition for students. I encourage parents and students to attend orientation for their child’s school to help ensure a positive start for a new school and new school year in August,” said Interim Superintendent Lamis Srour.
