Dearborn Public Schools is providing free lunch and breakfast to children for five weeks during the summer of 2026.
Free lunch and breakfast will be available for any child 18 or younger or those over 18 with a physical or mental disability. Eighteen schools will offer food. Those buildings are also hosting the district’s free Summer Discovery program, so children and teens coming just for a meal will need to check in at the school office before going to the cafeteria.
Meal locations include Becker Elementary, Bryant Middle, Dearborn High, Geer Park Elementary, Haigh Elementary, Henry Ford Elementary, Howard Elementary, Howe Montessori, Long Elementary, McCollough-Unis, Miller Elementary, Oakman Elementary, Salina Elementary, Salina Intermediate, Snow Elementary, Stout Middle, William Ford Elementary, and Woodworth Middle.
Meals for the public will be from 9 to 9:20 a.m. for breakfast and 12:30 to 12:50 p.m. for lunch. The program runs from June 29 to July 31. There will be no meals on July 3, when schools are closed. Children and teens do not need to be district residents to participate in the meals. The service is provided through special funding from the National School Lunch Program.
The schools with summer meals are also hosting a free Summer Discovery program for Dearborn Public Schools students. Students in elementary through 9th grade will enjoy free lunch and breakfast before the public meals. Summer Discovery is funded by a grant from the United Way for Southeastern Michigan and the Ballmer Group. Last year, 4,000 students attended Summer Discovery.
