Curriculum information

There have been recent discussions in the community regarding the curriculum in the Dearborn Public Schools. The district follows the Common Core State Standards. Here is a link to the webpage:https://www.michigan.gov/mde/services/academic-standards. We also provide common resources for teachers to ensure consistency across the district.

All curriculum is reviewed by a committee of teachers and administrators before being brought to the Board of Education for approval. Here is a link to an overview of Dearborn’s curriculum: https://dearbornschools.org/services/core-curriculum/. Curriculum is reviewed based on changes in state standards and in order to keep materials current and relevent.

In addition, any new curriculum is shared with parents so they can review the material their children will see in the classroom. Here is an article where this recently occurred: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kwT6qfwZOMMFhke76spvfboJuO6CwVeUNvcfKVlFDp4/edit

The district asks parents to please discuss their concerns or questions about curriculum with their child’s teacher and principal.

Thank you
